Crea makes its debut as an Amsterdam Dance Event venue this year
Amsterdam Dance Event is coming to the UvA this year. In October, cultural centre Crea on the Roeterseiland Campus will be transformed into an official venue for the annual event for the first time.
Regular Crea visitors can get their favourite party outfits out of the wardrobe this autumn. The UvA’s cultural centre is making its debut as an official Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) venue this year. On Thursday 22 October, the house music party ZU HAUSE will take place there, featuring DJs from the Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania and Switzerland. Tickets for the event, which will be held in the music hall, are available here. The venue has space for 200 people in total. For this year’s edition, ZU HAUSE is the only ADE party taking place at Crea.
ADE label
Crea has been no stranger to a good party, of course. Jazz performances, karaoke nights, salsa workshops and club nights under the name Dansje Wagen have been regular fixtures for years. For Crea director Dennis van Galen, adding the prestigious ADE label to the mix therefore feels “entirely natural”.
He emphasises that Crea is a place where new music can regularly be heard and young creators are given space to experiment. “It’s therefore the perfect place for students, artists and audiences to come together and for new ideas to emerge, as they do at ADE.”
Amsterdam Dance Event takes place from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 October, across more than a thousand venues throughout Amsterdam, according to the organisation itself. The event attracts around half a million visitors every year and has grown over the past few decades into the world’s largest dance music conference.
