The UvA will be more difficult to reach on Wednesday due to a nationwide public transport strike in the early morning. Exams and classes will continue as scheduled.
Trade union FNV is organising a nationwide strike in public transport on Wednesday. During the night and morning services, no trains, trams, metros, or buses will operate until 8:00 a.m. As a result, travelling to the University of Amsterdam will be more challenging. Disruptions are also expected later in the day. According to GVB, passengers may experience delays and service interruptions throughout Wednesday as the transport network gradually returns to normal operations after the strike.
The industrial action takes place in the middle of the examination period. According to the university, exams will go ahead as planned, “unless otherwise communicated by the programme concerned.”
The university advises staff who do not need to be on campus and who are affected by the strike to work from home, subject to agreement with their supervisor. Students and staff who do need to travel to the UvA are encouraged to closely monitor public transport updates and plan their journey in advance.
