UvA students rate their university 3.88 out of 5 in terms of their overall judgement of their degree programme. This is evident from the National Student Survey (NSE), which was completed by nearly a quarter of all UvA students. The UvA’s score therefore remains virtually unchanged compared with last year.
UvA students are most satisfied with the atmosphere, the content of their degree programmes, and their lecturers. This is evident from the annual National Student Survey (NSE), in which students give their opinion on their studies. In total, the survey was completed by 22.4% of all UvA students. With an overall satisfaction score of 3.88, the University of Amsterdam scores slightly above the national average for higher education institutions, which rounds to 3.8.
Compared with other universities, the UvA performs relatively well in terms of the information provided by degree programmes. UvA students are also more positive than average about their lecturers, particularly appreciating their academic expertise. On the other hand, the university scores relatively low when it comes to how well programmes prepare students for professional practice. According to students, academic guidance could also be improved.
Highest satisfaction
This year, the title of the UvA faculty with the highest student satisfaction goes to Amsterdam University College (AUC), with a score of 4.02. Last year, the Faculty of Medicine (FG) held that position; this year it shares second place with the Faculty of Science (FNWI). As in the previous four years, the ACTA dental faculty scored the lowest in terms of student satisfaction, although the gap with the other faculties is gradually narrowing.
Nationally, the NSE further shows that three-quarters of students are satisfied with the programme they are enrolled in. At the same time, just over 3 in 10 students consider the workload of their programme to be too high.
