Are there still pubs in the city where students can get a pint for a reasonable price? Folia went on an expedition.
At Eetcafé Oceaan on Borneo Island, students can really enjoy themselves on Thursday nights. A pitcher will only cost you €12.50, which breaks down to just €2.50 per glass. Not a bad deal at all for this cozy little café by the harbor. And on Thursdays, you can also play pool for free.
R.J.H. Fortuynplein 29, Amsterdam-Oost
De Heeren van Aemstel, a student favorite right next to Rembrandt Square, also offers a special student discount on Thursdays. A beer will only cost you €2.50 that night — a nice little deal to kick off the weekend early.

At Café Fest, near the Amstel campus, a beer costs only €2.60. The café presents itself as the lively living room for students of the Hogeschool of Amsterdam, but they will certainly not turn away a stray UvA student.
Wibauthof 1, Amsterdam-Oost
The student-run film theatre Kriterion, right next to the Roeterseiland campus, also has a cosy café. A glass of the house beer Jupiler costs €2.70. Tip: take your affordable beer into the theatre and catch a film.

Although Café Sportpark in Bos & Lommer – which claims to be the cosiest café in Amsterdam – may not seem like a typical student café at first glance, any pub that serves beer for €3.10 is a perfect location for the third half.
Jan van Galenstraat 130, Amsterdam-West
Theatre café De Richel has also been popular with students for many years. This is not surprising, given that the café is less than a kilometre from the Oudemanhuispoort and you can get a beer for €3.00.
