Richard Goldstein, currently a partner at PwC, will succeed Jan Lintsen as member and vice-chairman of the Executive Board from 1 September. The assignment is for four years.

Jan Lintsen’s successor has been announced. Richard Goldstein will succeed him as member and vice-chairman of the Executive Board (CvB) with effect from 1 September. He will be responsible for the finance and operations portfolio.

Goldstein, a chartered accountant by training, has been with PwC since 1987 and became a partner in 2006. “Richard Goldstein has extensive expertise and substantive knowledge. As a former accountant for the UvA, he is also familiar with the institution,” said Jolande Sap, chair of the Supervisory Board.

The Central Works Council and the Central Student Council advised positively on the appointment.

“I am delighted to be working with Richard Goldstein,” says UvA President Edith Hooge. “He brings extensive experience with complex organisations in the public sector, particularly in higher education institutions and specifically at the UvA. This gives him a good understanding of the university, while also bringing an outside perspective. In addition, he is not only a financially skilled administrator, but also strongly committed to society.”

Richard Goldstein says he is “honoured” to have been appointed to the UvA. He describes the university as “a truly Amsterdam-based centre of excellence” and says he is looking forward to working with all students and staff.

Lintsen will leave on 15 June, so there will be a few months between his departure and Goldstein’s arrival. In the meantime, chair of the Executive Board Edith Hooge and rector magnificus Peter-Paul Verbeek will take over his portfolio.
