The UvA will file a police report for threatening posters that were distributed on Tuesday afternoon at Science Park and via Instagram. Each member of the Executive Board is named and pictured and accused of ‘complicity in genocide’. The UvA calls this “a new low”.

A flyer with photos of the three members of the Executive Board was distributed both on physical posters at Science Park and on the Instagram account of UvA Intifada.

Above the photos of Edith Hooge, Jan Lintsen and Peter-Paul Verbeek is the text ‘Wanted’, with the text ‘for complicity in genocide’ below it. Next to it is a telephone number and the text: ‘They are the face. The institution is a crime. During a genocide, they give our dimes.’

The UvA says it will file a report as soon as possible.

The UvA Intifada Instagram account also refers to the email address of the UvA secretary general and calls for the copying of a text accusing the Board members of complicity in genocide.

“A new low,” is how an UvA spokesperson described the action. “We will press charges as soon as possible.” The spokesperson does not know who is behind the Instagram account UvA Intifada. The account itself claims to be a ‘youth-led student group’ that ‘fights for academic boycott and Palestinian liberation at the University of Amsterdam’.
