Missing UvA student | Police seeks for black Swap bike with frame number BK999330
Last weekend, the police searched the area around the Nieuwe Meer lake for missing UvA student Shengmen Luo. The search was unsuccessful. The police have now released the number of his Swap bike and are calling on everyone to keep an eye out for it.
It is a black Swap bicycle with blue front tyres and the frame number BK 999330. This frame number can be found near the pedals on a white sticker on the left side of the bicycle. Anyone who finds the bicycle or knows where it is, is asked to call 112, according to a police spokesperson.
The police have been searching all weekend for Shengmen Luo, a Chinese Logic student at the UvA who disappeared three weeks ago. The police are focusing their search on the Nieuwe Meer, a nature reserve not far from Poeldijkstraat, where Shengmen lives. The police have searched the area with a boat and dogs, but without any result.
Cruising area
The Nieuwe Meer is known as a cruising area and meeting place for homosexual men. The police are aware of this, but do not know whether Shengmen belongs to that group of men. “We cannot say anything more about that. In any case, it is not the only reason why we are searching at the Nieuwe Meer.” The police are, however, calling on students in LGBTIQ+ circles to come forward if they have any information that could help the police. Last week, a Burgernet operation was also organised to find the bicycle. So far, it has been unsuccessful.
Shengmen’s mother has now arrived in the Netherlands. She has spoken to the police, but the police have made no further announcements. The police have, however, labelled Shengmen’s disappearance and search as ‘urgent’.
