New University Night was peaceful

The event was jointly organised by the ASVA student union,  student party Humanities Rally and action groups NU! and University of Colour, and took place on Thursday from 16:30 – 02:00 on the Roeterseilandcampus. Curious visitors (between 30 and 70 at any one time) filtered in and out as they listened to a programme composed of poetry recitals and speeches on topics like the purpose of higher education.

The protest was in continuation of the thwarted sit-in a few weeks earlier, when police forcibly cleared the Roetersilandcampus and CREA.
