Do you want to be our new international student columnist?

Are you an international student at the UvA, do you know what is going on in university and student life and do you have a sharp, critical pen? Folia, the university medium of the largest university in the Netherlands, is looking for an international columnist.

This is what you have to do: write a column of a minimum of 300 and a maximum of 500 words. Your column can be about anything, as long as the topic is related to university and student life. You can write about the student housing shortage in Amsterdam, friends who microdose for exams, woke and diversity policy, the new dean of the Humanities faculty or the social awkwardness of online dating.

Our new columnist will get a permanent place on the website of Folia, the journalistic medium of the largest university in the Netherlands. You will write for us regularly – once every three weeks. Folia columnists receive appropriate compensation and, when necessary, coaching by our senior editors.

Folia was founded in 1948 and has produced numerous well-known writers and journalists. The editorial staff currently consists of a mix of young, novice journalists and more experienced staff who make daily news, reports and background information about the UvA, both in text and image.

Interested? Please send your column to redactie@folia.nl before the 18th of September.
