Introduction week canceled, UvA to look for alternatives

The 2020 Intreeweek, the annual introduction week for new students to get to know the UvA and city of Amsterdam, was planned for August 24-28.
 
Last year there were 4,300 participants. This year things are uncertain. ‘We believe it’s very important students have a good start to their study careers,’ says Janneke van Marle, director of Student Services, ‘but we can’t yet tell what form this will take for the next academic year.’
 
The traditional opening of the academic year, scheduled for 31 August, has also been canceled. It is not yet clear what will happen instead.
