Eight scientists awarded Marie Curie Fellowship

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship will provide the financial support for them to conduct research at the UvA.

 

The fund, which aims to promote the career development and training of researchers in and outside the European Union, amounts to about 180.000 euros per scientist. It is part of the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission, which aims to stimulate research and innovation within the EU.

 

Two UvA researchers have also secured funding to conduct research at an institute of their choosing in Europe.

 

The Marie Curie Fellows:

-       Thomas Blankers of Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) - The Genetic Basis of Mating Behaviour: Pheromone Communication in Noctuid Moths;

-       Jozefien De Leersnyder of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium) -Emotional Fit in Intercultural Interactions;

-       Yoshi Maezumi from the University of Exeter (Exeter, UK) - Fire Impacts in Rainforest Ecotones;

-       Brian O'Shea from the University of Warwick (Warwick, UK) - Predicting Suicide;

-       Thomas Schindler from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, UK) - The Logical Function of Property Talk;

-       Charalampos Tsavdaroglou from the School of Architecture, Aristotle University (Thessaloniki, Greece) - The Refugees' Right to Housing;

-       Cecilia Vergnano of the Universitat de Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) - Rejection Regimes;

-       Bernadette van Wijk of the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Berlin, Germany) - Understanding Decision Making of Brain and Behaviour.

 

The UvA researchers to go abroad:

-       Bart Schimmel from the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics;

-       Elia Bruni from the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation.
